I bet you have. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve heard it said that when you start a business, you should\nstart it with an exit plan. Meaning, you should build your business so it\u2019s\nready to sell some day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To many business owners, that\u2019s like having a baby with the\nidea of putting him\/her up for adoption some day. It simply does not compute in\nthe young mother\u2019s\/father\u2019s (business owners) mind. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So here\u2019s a better thought\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Build your business as if you\u2019re going to turn it into a\nfranchise some day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While franchising is not required to grow your business, a\nfranchising system is. Let me explain. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order for your business to grow, you must have systems in\nplace. You must have everything and more listed below before you can even\nconsider growing your business. These basic needs are required from day one for\nany business. That is if you want to actually make a profit some day, let along\ngrow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And rather you want to grow your business or not, having a\nfranchise model in place will certainly make your life as a business owners so\nmuch easier. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s a few things to consider about setting up a franchise\nsystem within your business. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Business Format\nFranchise<\/li><li>The Franchise\nPrototype<\/li><li>Franchise\nPrototype Standards<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Business Format\nFranchise<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The business format franchise came from an earlier model called\nthe \u201ctrade name\u201d franchise. The big change was in the rights. During the \u201ctrade\nname\u201d days the franchise owner only had marketing right\u2019s. Now franchise owners\nhave owning rights to the entire business including systems. This has allowed\nfor a shift in focus to go from the quality and name recognition of the\nproducts carrying the business to sales techniques that carry the business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Franchise Prototype<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was really the franchise prototypes that allowed for the\nchanges to be made that help today\u2019s franchises really shine with the\ntechniques developed by the owners instead of the corporation. This can make a\nsignificant difference in the success of the franchise as the owner can custom\ntailor their marketing and promotions to the direct needs of their local target\ncustomers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Franchise Prototype\nStandards<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, the above being said, no one in their right mind would\npurchase a franchise if the parent company didn\u2019t have a solid plan of action\nset up to ensure the prospective success of the business. So, there are a few\nstandards that are put into place that helps jump-start the process of opening\na successful franchise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Build model of prospective customers\/clients, suppliers,\ncreditors and employees who will consistently offer high quality work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Build a user-friendly model that can be used by\nindividuals of any skill set.<\/li><li>Build a defect-free model.<\/li><li>Build a model with Operations Manuals.<\/li><li>Build a model that will provide guaranteed, consistent\nresults.<\/li><li>Build a model that encompasses the same branding in\ncolor, dress and facilities codes.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>These are all ways the parent corporation makes sure their\nbrand stays the same and in the front of the minds of customers.
